Diagnosis (U-Joints)

Worn u-joints usually create a vibration and sometimes noise in the driveline. The noise may best be heard when changing from a “drive” condition to a “coast” condition or vice versa.
Grab the driveshaft just in front of the rear u-joint or just behind the front u-joint and try to move the driveshaft. If the driveshaft moves or has “play” in it, the u-joint is bad.
